Mrs. Adie Mae Polston was born May 12, 1925, in Rockingham, N.C. to the late Jessie J. McDowell and Elizabeth Cassellman McDowell. She was married on March 27, 1941, to Joe Hayes Polston. Together they loved and worked as sharecroppers and farmers and they had 14 children. They were married for 50 years.
Mrs. Polston loved her family but foremost she loved God. She was a devout Christian since the age of 20. She attended Blenheim Church of God.
Mrs. Polston departed her Earthly home on January 12, 2025, for her heavenly home. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Harmon Polston of Bennettsville, Donnie Polston (Audrey) of Robbinsville, NC, Jerry Polston (Brenda) of Bennettsville, Sid Polston (Lane) of McColl, Joe Polston (Terry) of Blenheim and Larry Polston of Blenheim; daughters, Billie Sue Campbell of Cheraw, Eunice Polston of Florida, Sara Radford of McColl, Sandy Redbrook (Jay) of McColl and Lisa Polston of Wallace. She was blessed with over 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Joe Hayes Polston, sons, Richard Earl; daughters, Joann Freeman, Lucy Berry; grandsons, Joseph Polston, Jennings Polston and Sidney Polston whom she raised as her own; brother, Jessie Lee McDowell and her parents listed above.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Blenheim Church of God with burial to follow at Polston family cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
