Alan Ward Roets, 17, of Bennettsville, SC passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at his home. “It’s better to burn out than to fade away.”

Alan was born June 15, 2004 in Bennettsville, SC a son of Diane Hester Roets. He was a loving and caring young man who loved life. He fiercely protected those he loved. Alan was a bright light that went out to soon. He enjoyed music, cooking, classic cars and working with Othell Fowler at Dillon Auto Sales. Alan adored his niece and loved his Dillon Auto Sales Family.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Norman Lawrence Hester and Catherine Marie Ward Hester.

Survivors include his mother, Diane Hester of Bennettsville, SC; his biological father, Joseph H. Bond of GA; his bonus father, Danny H. Cofell (Bridgette) of Laurel Hill, NC; three brothers, Aaron Roets of Falkville, AL, Ashton Smith of McColl, SC and Trey Coxe of Bennettsville, SC; a sister, Susan Roets of Bennettsville, SC; a niece, Serafina Roets of Bennettsville, SC; and two uncles, Bruce Alan Hester (Brenda) of Bennettsville, SC and David Eugene Hester (Beverly) of Marietta, GA.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Burroughs Funeral Home.
