Ms. Betty Owens Lewellen peacefully passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, in the arms of her three loving daughters. She was 87 years old.
Betty was born in Hemingway, South Carolina on December 10, 1936, to the late James T. and Vernice Cribb Owens. She was a member of Main Street Methodist Church in McColl, South Carolina. She owned and operated Lewellen Insurance Agency in McColl for over 50 years and during that time, achieved multiple honors and achievements. She adored her family and friends, spending time with them, and entertaining for them. She also enjoyed doing puzzle books, teaching her bird Rob new phrases, and in earlier years, playing basketball, horseback riding out at the pond, fundraising for UNICEF, United Way, Easter Seals, and the Omar Shrine Club.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, daughters, Rhonda L. Odom and husband Eddie, Allyson L. Murphy, and Jennifer L. Guinn; a brother, Greg Owens; sisters, Gracie Birchmore and Arden Evans; grandchildren, Justin Odom (Courtney), Whitney English (Hunter), Natalie Bagley (Scott), Mackenzie M. Gaffney (Tremaine), Owen Murphy, Andrew Guinn, Thomas Luke Guinn, and Allyann Guinn; great grandchildren, Braxton Odom, Easton Odom, Jenni-Kaye Odom, Amelia Bagley, Willow English, and Tate English; two special sisters-in-law, Erma Owens and Myra Owens; and a very special lifelong friend, Beth Herring.
She was preceded in death by her parents listed above; father of her children, Thomas B. Lewellen; great grandson, Reese Gaffney; brothers, Johnnie Owens, George Owens, and Gerald Owens; sister, Patricia Amick; and a dear, special friend, Odessa Richardson.
A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 28 at Main Street Methodist Church in McColl, immediately followed by the funeral service officiated by Reverend Mike Rouse, at 3pm. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery immediately following.
