Beulah Creech Black, age 89 of Bennettsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, after an extended illness.
Beulah was born on March 2, 1935, in Bennettsville. She was a daughter of the late Hardin and Mary Quick Creech. Beulah was a member of the Bennettsville High School class of 1953. She then went on to graduate from Winthrop University in 1957. Beulah worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Superintendent of the Marlboro County School District until her retirement. She was a member of the Bennettsville Pilot Club for over 60 years. Beulah also served as the LifeLine manager for the club. She was proficient in shorthand and was a skilled typist. Beulah was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist. She served the Lord and her church by being the pianist until her health declined. Beulah was a humble servant who always put others before herself.
In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ernest Black, Sr.
Beulah is survived by her sons, Charles E. “Chuck” Black, Jr. (Jo) of Bennettsville, and David Warren Black (Emily) of Lexington; a daughter, Vivian Black Lee of Bennettsville; brothers, Jimmie Creech (Renee’) and Tommy Creech (Jo Linda) both of Cheraw; sisters, Frances Tarleton of Cheraw, and Barbara Leviner of Wallace; grandchildren, Charles E. Black. III (Elizabeth) of Turbeville, Lawren DeWitt Black (Sheldon) of Florence, Mary Jo Roller (Tyler) of Wallace, and Jincey Samantha Lee of Bennettsville; great grandchildren, Titan Roller, Andrea Hammonds, Memphis Roller, Korri Black, and Alice Black; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Bennettsville Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care during Beulah’s illness.
A celebration of Beulah’s life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home.
