Daniel Sherwood Herring, age 63 of Bennettsville, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at his residence.

Sherwood was born January 18, 1962, in Dillon, SC. He was a son of the late Daniel James and Shirley Ann Sports Herring. Sherwood enjoyed grilling, hunting, and watching NASCAR. Sherwood was also a history buff. He especially enjoyed military history. Most of all, Sherwood loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. His grandchildren were his heart, and he loved them dearly.

In addition to his parents, Sherwood was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Freeman Herring; and a brother, Steven Allen Herring.

Sherwood is survived by his sons, Daniel Justin Herring (Debbie) and Joshua Ryan Herring (Kelsey), both of Latta, and Johnny Walker Britt (Sierra) of Bennettsville; brothers, Eddie Herring (Andrea) of Fulda, Germany, and Steve Herring (Jean) of Latta; a sister, Lisa Johnson (Dwayne) of Latta; a special friend, Priss Cook of Dillon; grandchildren, Logan Herring, Abilene Herring, Hunter Herring, Kylie Walker, Elijah Britt, Jeremiah Britt, and Nathan Britt; mother in law, Mildred Freeman of Bennettsville; brothers in law, Carl Freeman (Dale) of Blenheim, Rev. Randy Freeman (Mabel) of Hartsville, Ricky Freeman (Kim) of Laurel Hill, NC; sister in law, Rev. Dr Nancy Pruitt (Rev. Dr. Eddie); several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

A memorial service for Sherwood will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet friends after the service.
