Donald Ray Sparkman

Donald Ray Sparkman, 56, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at McLeod Hospital in Florence, after a short illness.

Born September 20, 1966, he was a son of the late William Clyde and Vivian Page Sparkman. Don was a 1984 graduate of Blenheim High School. He was a naturally gifted carpenter and builder for most of his life. He worked on a lot of projects for people all over Marlboro County and the surrounding areas. He was very proud of his work and took great care in ensuring that it was done right. He loved to plant a big garden and watch it grow.

He is survived by his sisters, Diane (Tom) Carabo of Blenheim and Laura (Patrick) Smith of Bennettsville; brothers, Wayne (Nita) Sparkman of Laurinburg, Alan (Alice) Sparkman of McColl, Jeff (Sybil) Sparkman of Seneca, Sam (Debbie) Sparkman of Bennettsville; three young men he loved and raised from childhood as his own, Tyler (Alanis) Erwin, Eric Erwin, and Cody Erwin; two little grandchildren, Bryson & Adyson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Sparkman and a niece, Ashleigh Sparkman.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Brownsville Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held just prior to the service at the funeral home.
