Donald Joe Stewart, age 74 of Bennettsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness.

Donald was born March 6, 1952, in Winston Salem, NC. He was a son of Joe Wade Stewart and the late Margaret Jane Green Stewart. Donald grew up helping his daddy on the family farm. After graduating from Ledford High School in 1970, Donald went on to graduate from North Carolina State University with an engineering degree. He was employed by Powell Manufacturing from 1974-2010 as an engineer. Donald was a quiet man, with a big heart. He enjoyed being outside and working in his yard. He also enjoyed eating sweets. Donald was a member of Christian Fellowship Church. He took on being a father from the time he and Debbie started dating to Hope and Brooke, and a grandfather to Cooper, Brenlyn, Madison, and Morgan. Donald loved his family dearly. His grandchildren were his world.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years, Debbie Stewart of the home; his father, Joe Wade Stewart of Winston Salem, NC; daughters, Hope Williams (Keith) of West Columbia and Brooke Leviner of Wallace; a brother, Jimmy Stewart of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren, Cooper Steen, Brenlyn Steen, Madison Williams, and Morgan Williams; a special cousin, Joan Younger of High Point, NC; a brother in law, Kenneth Osborne of Mint Hill, NC; nieces, Dawn Allman (Alan) of Mooresville, NC, Natalie Osborne of Mint Hill, NC, Shawn McStravick of Charlotte, NC; great nieces, Savannah Stoudemire (Tyler) and Zari Fucchi (Anthony); great nephew, Zach Allman (Ally); great great nephews, Kian McStravick and Wade Stoudemire; several other extended family members also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Christian Fellowship Church officiated by Rev. Julius Bunch. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery, 8115 Old Lexington Rd Winston Salem, NC, at 4:00 P.M.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Christian Fellowship Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Donald’s honor to Agape’ Hospice 309 East Main Street Bennettsville, SC 29512 or Christian Fellowship Church 1615 Hwy 38 South Bennettsville, SC 29512.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Agape’ Hospice for the loving, compassionate care given to Donald.
