Eric “Big Sexy” David Odom, 41, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Born on August 21, 1984, in Laurinburg, NC, he was the beloved son of Pamela Starr Knight Carnes and Charles David Odom. Eric worked as a skilled carpenter for Coastal Carolina Builders, Inc. He had a passion for riding his motorcycle, fishing, cooking (and eating), and most of all, spending time with his family.

Eric is survived by his loving parents; his daughters, Erica Marie Odom and Breyona Shalyn Perkins; his sister, Alivia Deese; his grandfather, Henry “Pa” Shelley; niece and nephew, Paris Witherspoon and River Witherspoon; and a host of cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Juanita Shelley, and his paternal grandparents, Pat and Marvelene Odom.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at First Baptist Church of McColl, officiated by Rev. Bo Grooms and Rev. Carson Hilburn. Burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, just prior to the service.
