Evans Locklear, Jr., age 73 of Bennettsville, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at his residence.
Evans was born May 4, 1951, in Bennettsville, SC. He was a son of the late Evans “June” and Cora Clay Locklear. Evans worked many years in textiles. He was a member of Victory World Outreach Center. Evans loved riding, camping, and hunting. He also enjoyed working on cars and tinkering around the house. Evans was also a former volunteer with the Bennettsville Police Department. More than anything, Evans loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Evans was preceded in death by several siblings; a brother, Rev. Michael Locklear; sisters, Patsy Byrd, JoAnn Goins, Joyce Carol Locklear, and Glenda June Locklear.
Evans is survived by his wife, Frances Kirby Locklear of the home; a son, David Locklear (Betsy) Rockingham, NC; daughters, Tracy Locklear Stubbs (Donald) of Laurel Hill, NC, Mona Mumford (Rusty) of Bennettsville, Bari Locklear of Bennettsville, and Twyla Harrelson of Surfside Beach, SC; a brother, Jack Locklear (Betty) of High Point, NC; sister in law, Dora Locklear of Bennettsville; grandchildren, David Aaron Locklear, Ciara Payne, Shyla Taylor, Meagan Harrelson, Donald Stubbs, Jr., Haleigh Stubbs, Brendon Evans Stubbs, Amber Mumford, Anna Mumford, and Luis Evans Jimenez; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., at Victory World Outreach Center. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends just prior to the service, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at Victory World Outreach Center.
