Frances Pope Belcher, widow of William Boyd Belcher, Sr., passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Morrison Manor after a brief illness. She was 101 years old.
Born in Hemingway, SC on July 19, 1924, to the late John Powers and Frances Modena Lewis Pope. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Bennettsville. After graduating high school, she went on to earn her degree from Marlboro Business College. She worked as an Interior Decorator for HJ Munnerlyn, she was ASCS for the Department of Agriculture, and later a Columnist of Marlboro Herald Advocate. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing bridge, spending time with her friends, family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; sons, William “Boyd” Belcher Jr. and wife Elisa, John Charles Belcher and wife Cathy, and Michael Pope Belcher and wife Angela; daughter, Dena Belcher Kett and husband Bryan; 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, and her 6 siblings.
A graveside service will be held at 12pm, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Taylor Coates. A visitation will be held from 11:00am – 11:30am, Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Burroughs Funeral Home.
