Gary Nelson Woods

Gary Nelson Woods entered his heavenly home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Atrium Health Charlotte after an illness. He was 86 years old.

Gary was born on February 15, 1938, in Marlboro County, SC to the late Rev. Lacy Sr. and Dorothy Thompson Woods. He spent his life serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of East Laurinburg Church of God, attended Oak Hill Church of God, spent 40 years at McColl Church of God along with other various churches in the Church of God in the area helping build the Kingdom of God. He was a member of the United States Army. He was a supervisor with Oak River Mills, where he retired after 29 plus years. After retiring from Oak River Mills, he became Part Owner and Operator of Woods Music and later Woods Trucking. He loved riding his motorcycle, driving his big truck, working outside, visiting with the shut ins, spending time with family, spending time working out spiritually and physically every morning, and attending church.

He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his wife, Rose Marie Smith Woods; sons, Mike (Robin) Woods, Keith (Kay) Woods, and Mark (Helen) Woods; grandchildren, Jennifer Woods, Alan Woods, Jerica (Matthew) Hardee, and Anthony Woods; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, son, Jeff Woods, and 5 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 4pm, Monday, March 25, 2024, at McColl Church of God, officiated by Revs. Brett Davis, Brian Oxendine, and Harry Clark, with burial at Rogers Cemetery in McColl, SC. A visitation will be held from 3-4 pm just prior to the service at the church.
