Georgia Byrd Norton, age 80 of Bennettsville, changed her address to her eternal home on July 29, 2024.
Georgia was born July 7, 1944, in Bennettsville, SC. She was a daughter of the late George Albert and Bessie Lee McLain Bailey. She was of the Baptist faith. Georgia was a member of the WMU at Bennettsville Second Baptist. Georgia retired from Marley Engineered Products after forty-four years of dedicated service. Georgia loved bowling. She was a member of the Marley Bowling Team for ten years. Georgia also enjoyed Nascar, fishing, gambling, traveling, and family gatherings.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Albert Bailey.
Georgia is survived by her children, Charles Byrd IV (Donna) and Larry Norton, Jr. (Delisa) both of Wallace, SC, Tammy Hayes (Matt) of Little River, SC, David Norton (Hope) of McColl, SC, and Amanda Godwin (Bradford) of Parkton, NC; sisters, Martha Ann Sellers of Darlington, SC and Joyce Ann Britt of Bennettsville, SC; seventeen grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Bennettsville Second Baptist Church, burial to follow at McCall cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Bennettsville Second Baptist Church.
