Gerald Francis Ingram “Jerry” passed away March 10, 2026, at the Scotia Village Retirement Center in Laurinburg, NC. He was 89. Jerry was born in Cheraw, SC, July 31, 1936, to Bizann (Ann) Ingram McManus and Francis Welsh Ingram. He was raised by Ann and Bernie McManus and grew up working at their family service station and liquor stores in town; owned by the McManus’s. Jerry worked at several manufacturing plants; Oak River and Talon. Later in life he managed lawns for many neighbors in Bennettsville.
Jerry loved sports, mainly baseball and women’s basketball (lady Gamecocks) and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play ball.
Jerry leaves behind a son, Freddie Ingram of Mauldin; his sister Shirley Davis of Bennettsville; granddaughter, Candice Ingram of Dillon; great-granddaughter Shayla Purnell, great-grandson Connor Ingram, former daughter in law Tammy Berry of Dillon, and nieces Donna Daniel and Gail Davis. Jerry was predeceased by wife Barbara Ingram and children Karen, Randy and Glenn Ingram, grandson Randall Ingram, and great granddaughter Nala Kimora Ingram.
Jerry spent his later years socializing and having lunch with his friends at the “Marlboro Council on Aging”. Managers Lisa and Sherwood Perkins came to know Jerry as a regular, along with his friends David, Paul, Jack. It was the highlight of his days sharing stories and historic knowledge of Bennettsville.
Burroughs Funeral Home is providing a graveside service to be held Sunday at 3:00pm at Sunset Cemetery in Bennettsville.
