Gertrude Jordan Quick passed away at her home in Bennettsville on Friday, May 26, 2023. She was 98 years old.

Born in Bennettsville, Gertrude was one of nine children born to the late Johnnie and Fannie Sweatt Jordan. She grew up in Bennettsville and married the late Henry Quick, Jr. She spent most of her time in the workforce employed with Norris Industries as a commercial seamstress. Gertrude was a member of Bennettsville First Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed sewing and working in the yard and loved cooking and baking for her family and guests. She was always a gracious host, and no one ever left her house hungry.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Eleanor Quick Dougherty of Baltimore; granddaughter, Kris Lee Travis (Douglas); great-grandchildren, David Dougherty, Hailee Joseph (Paul), Kasey Severson (Kyle), Gabriel Travis; great-great-grandchildren, Natalie Dougherty, Dara Dougherty, Jace Travis; and other beloved family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sons, Walter Harold Quick and Johnny Lee Quick; brothers, Buddy and Brenson Jordan; sisters, Aline Elvis, Lois Wallace, Geneva Cornell, Lessie McCauley; infant sisters, Eva Lee Jordan and Alma Jordan; grandson, John W. Dougherty III; and son-in-law, John W. Dougherty Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Bennettsville First Pentecostal Holiness Church, followed by burial in Sunset Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., just prior to the service at the church.
