Hazel Hubbard Obituary

Mrs. Hazel Tierney Hubbard, widow of Carey Hubbard, III, passed away, Saturday, June 28, 2025, after an illness. She was 90 years old.

Mrs. Hazel was born in Bennettsville, SC on May 21, 1935, to the late Willard and Hattie Granger Tierney. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bennettsville, where she served as a deacon. She worked for the City of Bennettsville where she served secretary for the mayor. She was a member of the Red Hat Club, the Pilot Club, and the 20th Century Book Club. She was and avid reader, especially the Bible.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; nephew, Gaylon Floyd; caretakers, Ginger Floyd, Patricia Baker, Carol Abraham, and staff of Agape Hospice, Teresa Smith, Janice Cookie Goodman, and Kayla Heffner; son-in-law, Jimmy Shuford; granddaughters, Brittany Hatcher and Carissa Banks.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents listed above; daughter, Cindy Shuford, and her siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm, Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church of Bennettsville, officiated by Rev. Dr. Scott Andrews. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm just prior to the service.
