James Arthur Glenn age 69, of Bennettsville, passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

James was born on August 18, 1953, in Charleston, SC. He was a son of the late Thomas Rucker and Elizabeth Horton Glenn. James was a proud United States Army Veteran. He served his country in Vietnam from 1971-1977. James retired from the Michelin Corporation, where he worked for many years as a supervisor. He was a former volunteer firefighter with Sandy Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Sandy Springs, SC. James also served on the board of directors for Eastside Volunteer Fire Department in Asheboro, NC. He enjoyed studying history and riding his motorcycle. James was also an avid Clemson Tigers fan. Most of all, James loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

James is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Glenn of the home; a son, Grayson Glenn (Marianne) of McLeansville, NC; daughters, Talia Williams (Marshall), Brittany Sheffield (Steven), and Courtney Markle (Matt) all of Asheboro, NC; a brother, Thomas Glenn (Becky) of Seneca; a sister, Alethea Glenn of Townville; grandchildren, Alyssa Williams, Brayden Williams, Charlotte Sheffield, Elizabeth Markle, Logan Markle, Katherine Markle, and Ella Glenn; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on April 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Journey Church 1801 South Fayetteville Street Asheboro, NC 27205.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in James’ honor to any local fire department. Donations can also be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675-8516. Or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
