Mrs. Jean McIntyre Coward, age 90 of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

Mrs. Coward was born November 11, 1932, in Clio, South Carolina. She was the widow of James Marion Coward and the daughter of the late Dewitt Talmadge and Bernice Bullock McIntyre of Clio, SC. She graduated from Dillon High School and attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Dewitt Hamer (Maxine) McIntyre of Clio, SC, John Edwin (Jane) McIntyre of Clio, SC, Robert Wesley (Frances) McIntyre, Sr. of Dillon, SC and sisters Mary Elizabeth (R.C.) Rogers of Dillon, SC and Bernice (John D.) Coleman of Latta, SC and stepmother Elizabeth Covington McIntyre of Clio, SC.

She was a member of the Snellville United Methodist Church of Snellville, GA. She retired from State Farm Insurance in Lilburn, GA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting her hometown of Clio, SC.

She is survived by her three children; Barbara (Tommy) Norton of Good Hope, GA, Deborah (Eddie) Brown of Perry, GA, and Stephen Coward of Atlanta, GA; grandsons, Matthew (Ruby) Norton of Cayman Islands and Jeffrey (Sabrena) Norton of Hoschton, GA; granddaughter Bethany Brown of Suwanee, GA; great granddaughters, Isabella Norton & Blakely Norton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Martha (Polly) McIntyre of Dillon, SC.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel in Snell, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Hebron Cemetery in Clio, South Carolina. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
