Shelia “Jean” Huggins, 78, of Bennettsville, South Carolina passed away on November 17,2023 at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina after a medical emergency.

Jean was born on March 4, 1945, to Oliver P. Huggins and Evelyn J. Huggins in Mullins, South Carolina. She grew up in Lake View, South Carolina until she made her permanent home in Bennettsville.

Jean was a circuit court reporter where she had the opportunity to travel all over the state until her retirement. Jean was preceded in death by her mother and father and her “sweetie”, Chuck Lindsay.

She was known by her loved ones as Gigi, Queen or Sweetie. She loved her family and friends, her brothers, her red heads and her lounging ladies fiercely. She found joy in being involved in all her families activities, weekends with Bailey, watching sports, Monday night Bingo, card nights with friends, and all things Christmas.

Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Bailey A. Lindsay (Tyler Hunter) and stepdaughter, Ashley L. Smith (David), and step-son, John Lindsay (Caroline). Also survived by her brothers, Johnny Huggins, Rusty Huggins (Nancy), and Greg Huggins (Trudy). She leaves in her passing many very special nieces and nephews; James and Meredith Page (Ella, Livi, Keegan & Abigail), Mike and Jennifer Boland (Avery, Keller, Graham and Lincoln) and Dr. Terrill and Anita Huggins (Jenna, Ashyr and Emi).

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday November 21, 2023, at 3:00pm at First Presbyterian Church in Bennettsville. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be made to First Presbyterian Church in Bennettsville, South Carolina or Bear Swamp Baptist Church in Lake View, South Carolina.
