Jerry McDonald, age 78 of Bennettsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House.

Jerry was born April 24, 1946, in Bennettsville. He was a son of the late Bernard C. and Edith Walters McDonald. Jerry was a faithful member at Christ Church of Bennettsville. He worked forty years at Galey and Lord as a warehouse clerk. Jerry loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in the garden. Jerry was also an avid sports fan and liked drag racing. He had a great sense of humor that kept everyone he knew smiling. Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by daughters, Libby Joy McDonald, Becky McDonald, and Nikki McDonald-Loflin; and a brother, Bill McDonald.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Janet W. McDonald of the home; a son, Scutter McDonald (Wendy) of Great Falls, SC; daughters, Brooklynn Hicks and Breana Craig of the home; brothers, Richard McDonald (Kathy) of Hartsville and Steve McDonald (Herron) of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Meredeth Hicks of Cayce, Michelle Hicks of New York, Emily McDonald of Cayce, Brent McDonald of Bennettsville, Edie Cadogan (Andy) of Charleston, Amber Caison of West Columbia, Mac McDonald (Chase) of Winnsboro, and Alex McDonald of Great Falls; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church of Bennettsville. An interment will take place at a later date.

A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church of Bennettsville in the fellowship hall.
