Mrs. Jincy Gray Greene, age 96, formerly of Clio, SC, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on December 21, 2023, at Trinity Elms Memory Care Facility in Clemmons, NC. She was married to the love of her life the late Benjamin Cherish “B.C.” Greene, Jr. for 69 years.
Born in the Blenheim Township of Marlboro County, SC, on June 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Luther Thompson Gray and Beulah B. Gray. Mrs. Jincy was a graduate of Lower Marlboro High School. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and dedicated much of her time and energy to various activities within the Clio Community that she so loved. After many dedicated years of service, she retired as a teacher's aide from Clio Elementary School. Mrs. Jincy served as original director of the Clio Cotton Pickin’ Festival and volunteered at the Town of Clio Voting Polls. Along with her late husband, B.C., she worked on several improvement projects for the town of Clio such as the Clio Town Park, street flower barrels, and planting trees. Mrs. Jincy faithfully visited Dundee Nursing Home distributing flowers from her “Flower Power Wagon” as part of her Garden Club activities. She was passionate about cancer awareness and began a cancer support group in her home. She attended Salem Baptist Church in Bennettsville as a child and later moved to Clio where she attended Clio First Baptist Church. She was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clio where she actively and faithfully served for 47 years until her health declined, and she moved to Prestwick Village Assisted Living in Laurinburg, NC. Mrs. Jincy will be remembered for her willingness to serve her church whenever, wherever, and however she was needed.
She is survived by son, David Cherish Greene and wife Vicki of Farmington, New Mexico; daughter, Gloria Greene Avant and husband Joe of Advance, NC; grandchildren, Adam Avant and wife Mariah of Winston-Salem, NC and Jonathan Avant and wife Lindsey of Winston-Salem, NC; great-granddaughter, Cayla Joy Avant; and niece Brenda Shroeder, who was like a daughter, of Canton, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel in Bennettsville, SC with burial following at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
