Joann Elizabeth Hart, 90 years old, widow of Lessel K. Hart passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, at Lexington Community Hospice House from complications of congestive heart failure.

Mrs. Joann was born October 5, 1933, and raised in Huntington, Indiana. She was the only child of the late Milo and Esther Schenkel Hendricks. She moved to Bennettsville in 1966 with her husband and four children. She was a homemaker who later worked for Hamilton Office Supply until retirement. She also volunteered at First Methodist Church as Financial Secretary. Mrs. Joann loved to watch ETV and various games shows, read, play bridge, color, work puzzle books and she also sang in the church choir. In earlier years, she sang many solos and also duets with her husband. She and her husband also enjoyed participating in the Marlboro Players Productions.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, her parents, her mother and father-in-law and her two sisters-in-law and their husbands. She also outlived numerous cousins on the Schenkel side of her family.

Mrs. Joann is survived by her four children: Karen Hart of Columbia, SC; Janis Usher (Jimmy) of Bennettsville; Kathy Bolch (Mike) of Raleigh, NC; and Jimmy Hart (Laurie Ann) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. grandchildren: Amy U. Masincupp (Lee), Scott Usher (Elizabeth), Amanda B. Brantley (Kenji), Emily B. Ford (Corey), Ellie H. Wolla (Chris), Jay Hart (Brenna) and Allyson Hart; great grandchildren: Hart Masincupp, Kate Brantley, Emma Brantley, Theo Ford, Lyla Ford, Marion Usher, Avery Hart, Stanton Usher, Walker Hart and baby Ford coming soon.

A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church of Bennettsville on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 3:00 PM. with a private burial of her ashes next to her beloved, late husband in the church yard. A visitation will be held after the service in the gathering room of the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be given to First Methodist Church, P.O. Box 456, Bennettsville, SC 29512.
