Joseph Alexander McDuffie, aka Joey “Hawg” McDuffie, age 61 of Wallace, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at his residence.
Joey was born June 24, 1963, in Columbia, SC. He was a son of the late Fletcher and Patricia Nicholson McDuffie. Joey was a self-employed mechanic. He was the owner and operator of M+M Performance. Joey was a loving, caring, and outgoing person. He loved people and would do anything for anybody. Joey loved riding his Harley Davidson. He also loved to cook. He was known for his award-winning collards. He was one of a kind. Joey was never one to say “goodbye”, it was always just “later.”
Joey was preceded in death by his father, Fletcher McDuffie; mother, Patricia Nicholson McDuffie; stepmother, Betty Sauls McDuffie; wife, Brenda Clarke; and great grandchild, Briar McDuffie.
Joey is survived by sons, Joey McDuffie (Sarah) of Wallace and Joshua McDuffie (Brittany) of Darlington; a daughter, Whitney McDuffie of Texas; bonus children, Shaina Floyd (David) of Wallace, Bailey McCall of Bennettsville, Brittany and Hunter Lane; brothers, Anthony McDuffie (Mel) of Columbia, Timothy McDuffie (Sue) of Iowa, Bland McCall (Julie) of Bennettsville, and Jack Herndon of Bennettsville; stepbrothers, Chris Sauls (Kim) & Tommy Sauls (Rachel); sisters, Rebecca McDuffie Brown (Alan) of Columbia, and Connie Morgan of North Carolina, and stepsister, Joan Sauls McGee (Wayne); special nephews, Duane Graham and Ray Lawing of North Carolina; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; special friends, Bubba Rowlen, Charles Quick, and Tammy (Billy) Quick; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
The family would like to give special acknowledgement to Joey’s many friends at Magnolia on Main, Southern Delights, Stockyard Grill, and China Town Buffet. Also, a special acknowledgement to Sheriff Larry McNeill.
A funeral service for Joey will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Rogers Cemetery in McColl.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel.
