John "Johnny" McLaurin Stanton

John “Johnny” McLaurin Stanton, widower of Dianne Smith Stanton, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2025, at the age of 71.

Johnny was born on January 9, 1954, to the late Charles Linburgh Stanton and Sony Moore Stanton. He was employed by Crown, Cork & Seal for many years. Johnny enjoyed fishing, walking, watching sports, spending time with his cat, “Lex,” and being with his family—especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Cody Stanton (Ashley); his sisters, Patricia Smith (Ricky), Tracy Stanton, and Ann Stanton; and three grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, and Matthew.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park.
