Johnny Lee Thompson, age 72 of Wallace, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, after an illness.

Johnny was born on March 8, 1952, in Bennettsville. He was a son of the late JP and Jennie Bell Dew Thompson Sanders. Johnny attended Bible Freewill Church of Worship in Hamlet, NC. Johnny retired from Cascades after working many years in shipping and receiving. Johnny enjoyed doing yardwork and tinkering on lawn mowers and cars. He also enjoyed lifting weights and watching tv.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Nettles Thompson; a brother, William Thompson; an aunt, Lillie Dew Berry; a sister-in-law, Flossie Thompson.

Johnny is survived by his brothers, Eugene Thompson (Linda), Bobby Thompson (Bernice), Jerry Thompson (Linda), and Alfred Thompson, all of Bennettsville; sisters, Virginia Thompson of North Carolina and Martha Thompson of Greenville, SC; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Rogers Cemetery in McColl.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home.
