Lena Crowley McKenzie, widow of Douglas Earl McKenzie, Sr, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2024, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC, after an illness. She was 95 years old.

Lena was born in Marlboro County, SC on September 8, 1928, to the late Arthur J. Sr. and Jennie Wallace Crowley. She was a member of Ebenezer Christian Church, where she was a member of the Finance Committee and the Ladies Club. She also served as the church treasurer, pianist, and greeter. She was a part of the Upper Room Devotional Ministry and the Food Bank Ministry. She loved helping people in need. She attended Columbia Business School. She received the distinct honor of being chosen Woman of the Year for the Marlboro County Junior Charity League.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; sons, Douglas “Dougie” E. McKenzie Jr and Kenneth McKenzie and wife Linda; brother, Johnny Crowley; sisters, Patsy Herndon (David) and Julia Hunt; grandchildren, Logan McKenzie and wife Melissa, Beth McKenzie, and Miles McKenzie; great grandchildren, Cheyenne Wood and Jakob Wood; special cousin, William Easterling; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, and 3 brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Burroughs Funeral Home, officiated by Revs. Juanita Raber and Tony Weatherford, with burial in McCall Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, June 21, 2024, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
