Lenwood “Woody” Leroy Byrd, Jr., age 70 of Bennettsville, passed away on Wednesday August 14, 2024, after an extended illness.

Woody was born June 14, 1954, in Bennettsville. He was a son of the late Lenwood Leroy Byrd, Sr. and Margaret Herndon Byrd. He was a graduate of Bennettsville High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve. He attended Christian Fellowship Church. Woody was self-employed as an auto body technician. He enjoyed painting cars and racing. Woody was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Byrd Norwood.

Woody is survived by a daughter, Mandy Sorrells (William) of Cheraw; stepsons, Derek Lee (Dawn) of Okinawa, Japan, Blake Lee (Nicole) of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Anne Byrd West of Florence; grandchildren, Elijah Lee and Juliet Lee; several other extended family members also survive.
