Bennettsville
Leslie Alfred Moore, 66, unexpectedly departed his earthly life on the morning of April 16, 2026.
Leslie was born and raised in Bennettsville, South Carolina, to parents Harold and Sally Moore, who preceded him in death. After graduating from high school, Leslie enlisted in the United States Army National Guard, where he served for nine years, and later took some college classes. He then met his first girlfriend, and the one and only love of his life, Janet, whom he married in 1984, and they remained married for 41 years.
Following his enlistment, Leslie worked for many years at INA Bearing in Cheraw as a Mechanical Technician, until focusing on his health became more paramount.
When Leslie wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Above hunting, riding four-wheelers, and fishing, time with his wife and four children was most precious to him. Anyone who knew Leslie knew that he was a jokester, but also sincere and genuine to those he loved and adored. He never met a stranger and never missed a moment to help someone.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his oldest son, Eddie (Kayla) of Columbia, SC; eldest daughter, Wendy (Eric) of Niceville, FL; youngest son, Jaye (Samantha) of Raeford, NC; and youngest daughter, Michaela (TJ) of Decatur, GA. Leslie is also survived by his sister, Sissy Berry (Tony) of Cheraw, SC, and his brother, Chris Moore of Birmingham, AL. Inclusive of his grandchildren, Callia, Jaxon, and Athena, Leslie also adored and is survived by his Aunt Gloria (Sam) of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law, Mike Lowder (Patty) of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law, Susan Wells (Phillip) of Aiken, SC; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless fur babies of all kinds.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, as listed above, as well as his very special Aunt Ginger Ladd (Clarence) of Belmont, NC, and brother-in-law, Steve Lowder of Conway, SC.
Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
This verse reminds us that even though we are grieving now, this is not the end of his story. He is no longer in pain, no longer burdened, but made completely whole and at peace. While we carry the sadness of losing him, we can also hold onto the promise that he is restored, healed, and surrounded by a kind of peace we can only imagine. One day, every tear will be wiped away—and we will see him again.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm, Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Tony Berry. A visitation will take place from 1-3pm just prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to Marlboro County Humane Society, 242 AG Street, Bennettsville, SC 29512.
