Lessie J. McCauley

Lessie J. McCauley, 88, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at her residence.

Born August 4, 1933, in Bennettsville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie and Fannie Sweatt Jordan. She was married to the late Robert F. McCauley, Sr. Mrs. Lessie was a retired seamstress with B.C. Moore. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bennettsville, where she was a former deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Lessie enjoyed cooking, sewing, family gatherings, her church, her grandchildren and great grands.

Surviving are her daughters, Joyce Hamer of Clio, Jo Ann Clark (Danny Ansel) of Bennettsville, and Debbie McCauley of Kernersville, NC; sister, Gertrude Quick of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Trina Speight (Chris), Sara Leviner (Lance), Suzanne McCauley, Matt McCauley, Charlie Hamer, Tyler Clark, Clayton Clark (Rachel), Kendall Webster; great grandchildren, Gage Speight, Jonah Leviner, Easton Pearce, Rhett Leviner, Madi Hickey, Norah Leviner, Cullen Hamer, Lola Leviner and Ava Webster and daughter in law, Karen Elliott McCauley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; sons, Robert F. McCauley, Jr. and Ronald F. McCauley; brothers, Buddy Jordan and Brunson Jordan; sisters, Aline Elvis, Lois Wallace, and Geneva Cornell.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, in Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. just prior to the service at Burroughs Funeral Home.
