Lois Evelyn Pope Hinson, age 90 of Bennettsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
Lois was born May 27, 1933, in Bennettsville, SC. She was a daughter of the late Alexander Howard Pope and Joann Pearce Pope Boykin. Lois was a faithful member of Bruton Fork Baptist Church, where she served in the Women’s Missionary Union. Lois loved flower gardening, cooking, and sewing. Most of all, Lois loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, James Bartley Hinson, Jr.; a daughter, Lois Dianne Crosland; great granddaughter, Danielle M. Pedone; sisters, Josie Gardner and Ellen Pope.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Judy Hinson Bannister of Bennettsville; a sister, Thelma Blue of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Audra C. Pedone (Mike) of Florida, James A. Crosland, Jr. (Melissa) of Florence, SC, Throop H. Crosland (Amy) of Florence, SC, Bartley B. Gibson (Chas) of Bennettsville; great grandchildren, Sophia P. Johnson, CJ Gibson, Julianna Pedone, Katlyn Crosland, Aubrey Crosland, and Haylee Gibson; great great grandchildren, Charles Johnson and Irene Johnson; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Bruton’s Fork Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Bruton Fork Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Lois’ honor to Bruton’s Fork Baptist Church 1020 Bruton Fork Church Road Bennettsville, SC 29512.
