Lois Marie (Smith) Hughes

Lois Marie Smith Hughes passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at MUSC in Charleston after a brief illness. She was 73 years old.

Lois was born in Ennis, Texas on August 29, 1952, to the late Lawrence and Wanda Wilhoite Smith. She worked in the restaurant industry as a waitress for many years. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, bowling, thrifting, and loved her dogs.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; son, Adam Whistler (Shannon); daughters, Wendy Lees (Bryan) and Shanda Nash; 8 grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Alanis, Connor, Hannah, Mia, Breana, and Jacey; 6 great grandchildren, Bryson, Ady, Knoxx, Cylus, Isabella, and Delilah.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above and her brother, Joe Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm Friday, January 9, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home, officiated by Deacon Billy Thomas. A visitation will be held from 2-3 pm just prior to the service.
