Loris Nichols Obituary

Peggy Loris Odom Nichols, lovingly known simply as Loris, entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, surrounded by the family she cherished so dearly. At 68 years old, she completed her earthly journey with the same grace, strength, and gentle spirit that guided her throughout her life.

Born in Bennettsville on August 27, 1957, to the late Iben Alexander and Vermell Taylor Odom, Loris grew up rooted in faith, family, and love, values she carried with her into every season of life. A devoted member of Center Pointe Ministries, she lived her faith quietly but deeply, finding joy in fellowship with other women of the church, in singing, and in worship.

Loris dedicated many years to the Health Information Management field, where her kindness and dependability were known to all who worked alongside her. Yet, her most treasured roles were those she held at home; wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She cherished time spent at the beach, especially family vacations at Ocean Lakes, where the sound of waves, laughter, and togetherness created memories her loved ones will forever hold close. Whether watching The Andy Griffith Show, gathering for holidays, or simply sharing a meal, Loris had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved.

She is deeply missed by her devoted husband, Jamie Nichols, who was her companion and greatest earthly love. She leaves behind her daughters; Casey Terry (Terry), Johnnie Barrineau, Misty Hood (Jody), Vicky M. Johnson, and Casey Bayens (Kenny); her son, Jamie Nichols Jr. (Jackie); her brothers, Alexander Odom (Sandy) and Charlie Odom; and her sisters, Lowall Gibson (Wayne) and Marie Sims (Joe). Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each one carrying a piece of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, John Warren Barrineau.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Bennettsville First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Reverends Wayne Gibson and Thomas Buck officiating. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to visitation from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the same church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
