Magilee Davis Thompson, age 92 of Bennettsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at McLeod Hospice House.
Magilee was born December 29, 1933, in Chesterfield County. She was a daughter of the late Sylvester and Edith Frasier Davis. Magilee worked many years as an administrative assistant. She was employed at the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office from 1953-1956. After leaving the sheriff’s office, she worked for the next forty-seven years in healthcare. Magilee worked for Marlboro General Hospital and Lindsay Street Family Medicine. Magilee was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she served the church in many capacities throughout her life. Magilee was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Most of all, Magilee loved and cherished her family. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Magilee’s greatest times were those spent surrounded by the ones she loved.
In addition to her parents, Magilee was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Thompson; a son, Timothy Thompson; brothers, John Davis and Donald Davis; and sisters, Shirley McCallum and Miriam Ayers.
Magilee is survived by her daughter, Sharon Thompson of Columbia; grandchildren, Jonathan Helms (Christy) of Bennettsville and Adam Helms (Catherine Lynn Lewis) of Columbia; great grandchildren, Lacey Helms, Dutton Helms, Kaylee Sheppard, and Waylon Sheppard all of Bennettsville; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park.
A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. at Burroughs Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Magilee’s honor to Bethel United Methodist Church.
