Laurinburg/Bennettsville
Marie McCall Hines, 68, succumbed to her battle with cancer and passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC.
Born in Bennettsville, Marie was the daughter of Hazel Leviner Hatcher and the late Clarence William “Billy” Hatcher. Through the years, she was employed in retail management with various companies, including Family Dollar, Maxway, and Roses. She was active in the Waccamaw Indian Tribal Council and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, David B. Hines of Laurinburg; daughters, Emily White (Stephen) of Bennettsville, Lauren Bailey (Eldon) of Bennettsville, mother, Hazel Leviner Hatcher of Bennettsville; brother, Steve Hatcher (Brenda) of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Jase Weaver, Eliannah Bailey, Madison Bailey, Haileigh Hines; step-daughters, Tiffany Rockoff (John), of Raleigh, Christian Hines of Wilmington; and other beloved family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Burroughs Funeral Home in Bennettsville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., just prior to the service.
