Martha Jacobs (Chavis) Wallace

Martha Chavis Jacobs Wallace, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at her residence in McColl, SC.

Martha was born on August 12, 1933, in Bennettsville, SC to the late Boyd and Evelyn Cole Chavis. She graduated from McIntyres Beauty College and worked as a hairdresser, where she enjoyed cutting and styling hair. Martha worked in many different fields, she graduated from Nursing Aide School, she helped her husband “Whiteford Jacobs” at his restaurant and later retired from Hardees in Bennettsville. Martha was a member of The Eastern Star and a Member of McColl Church of God.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents listed above, husbands, Whiteford Jacobs, Carl Oliver, and Jesse Wallace; brothers, Boyd Chavis, Jr., Claude Chavis; sister, Frances Grant, and two infant grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Tracy (Jay) Britt, Jr. & Dorothy of McColl, SC; daughter, Evelyn Price of McColl, SC; 10 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Burroughs Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rogers Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service at the funeral home.
