Mary Frances (Clay) Altman

Mary Frances Clay Altman, age 77 of Bennettsville, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, after an extended illness.

Mary was born January 15, 1946, in Bennettsville. She was a daughter of the late Billy and Beulah Steen Clay. Mary worked for several years at United Technologies. After her retirement, she enjoyed going to church and going to the beach. Mary also loved spending time with her dog. Most of all, Mary cherished her time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle Altman; a son, Russell Altman; a brother, Charles Clay; and a sister, Judy Taylor.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Brenda Little (Tommy) of Bennettsville and Carol Goins of McColl; a sister; Edna Apgar (Eddie) of Bennettsville; grandchildren; Jimmy Altman, Donna Joye, Ricky Goins, Brandon Smith, and Stacy Walters; five great grandchildren; several other extended family members also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel.
