Mary Lou Woods Turner, of Bennettsville, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the age of 91.

Mary Lou was born April 13, 1932, in Clio, SC. She was a daughter of the late Lacy, Sr. and Dorothy Thompson Woods. Mary Lou attended Christ Church in Bennettsville for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved being outside gardening and working in the yard. Mary Lou also enjoyed cooking and baking cakes. Most of all, Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Turner; a son, Johnny Turner; a brother, Lacy Woods, Jr.; sisters, Louise Ross and Gladys Woods.

Mary Lou is survived by her sons, Robert Turner of Bennettsville and Terry Turner (Lindy) of Raeford, NC; a brother, Gary Woods (Marie) of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Shayne Davis (Joey), Kelsey Turner, and Elizabeth Turner; great grandchildren, Aidan Davis, Caroline Davis, Holden Stallings, Reed Stallings, and Noah Turner; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Lou will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Mary Lou’s honor to Christ Church PO Box 75 Bennettsville, SC 29512.
