Mary "Liz" Elizabeth (Locklear) Ireson

Ms. Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Ireson passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC after a brief illness. She was 74 years old.

Liz was born in in Robeson County, NC on November 29, 1950, to the late Howard “Shorty” and Mary France Oxendine Locklear. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and family, marking in her books with her red marker, having fun giving Christmas presents, talking everyone’s head off, and most of all yelling at Papa Chris. She was well loved by all.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; her loving companion of 35 year, Chris “Papa” Hood; sons, Kenny Locklear (Cynthia) and Deander Locklear; stepson, Victor Ireson; stepdaughters, Sharon Ireson and Terry Ireson; sisters, Carlene Neuder and Annabelle “Belle” Hunt both of Maryland; special son-in-law, Robert Fields; 22 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above; daughter, Tammy Dale Norris; husband, Floyd Ireson; 11 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial in Rogers Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12-2 pm just prior to the service.
