Greenville – Mathew Dennis Ainsworth, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3pm at Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held 11am, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park in Bennettsville, SC 29512 handled by Burroughs Funeral Home of Bennettsville. The family will receive friends following the service.
Dennis, son of the late William and Ruby Ainsworth, was a native of South Carolina. He worked as a chemical salesman in textiles with multiple companies, retiring in 2003 with American Delta. He was a member and deacon at Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church and loved to visit the sick and shut ins. Dennis enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, watching Clemson football, NASCAR, westerns, Elvis, eating ice cream, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Ainsworth and Carey Quick.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Ainsworth; children, Demetra Abbey (Brent) of Graham, Cindy Ainsworth-Jackson of Bennettsville, SC, Glenn Griggs of Cheraw, SC, and Rhonda Hardee (Alton) of Greenville; grandchildren, Blake O’Donnell (Tyler) of Des Moines, IA, Christopher Alexander Jackson (Ashley) of Whitsett, NC, Matthew David Abbey of Graham, NC, Will Buck, Kaitlyn Garcia, and Jacob Stokes, all of Greenville, NC; four great-grandchildren; brother, William Thomas Ainsworth (Cindy) of Bennettsville, SC; and several extended family.
