Mitchell Ray Clay passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was 60 years old.

Born in Bennettsville on September 26, 1962, Mitchell was the son of the late Preston and Myrtle Evelyn Hayes Clay. He was previously employed as an assembler with Ox Bodies of Bennettsville. Mitchell enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Jayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above.

Mitchell is survived by his daughter, Myrtle Lynn Clay (Clemon Parker Jr.); grandson, Jayden Parker; step-son, Albert Wallace; and step-grandson, Hunter Wallace.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Rogers Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Burroughs Funeral Home in Bennettsville.
