Martha “Motsy” Mayer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at McLeod Hospital with family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her father, Brantz Mayer, mother, Sally Crosland Mayer and maternal grandparents, Martha Edens Crosland and Throop C. Crosland.

She is survived by her sister, Julia M. Bridgers and numerous cousins.

Motsy was a kind, gentle and loving soul. She loved people, iced coffee, the color red and had an uncanny ability to remember dates and numbers. Motsy grew up in Bennettsville. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, attended Marlboro County Schools and  resided in Bennettsville until the death of her parents. Motsy relocated to Florence, SC, where she lived until her death. Motsy was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Park in Bennettsville.
