Nelson Almanda Clay passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Mcleod Regional Medical center in Florence, SC. He was 71 years old.

Nelson was born on October 10, 1954, in Rock Hill, SC to the late Herbert and Evelyn Whitaker Clay. He was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Bennettsville. Nelson loved hunting, fishing, and was a member of Bennettsville Second Baptist Church.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory; his wife Barbara Williams Clay; sons, Nelson “Pat” Clay Jr. of McColl and Gary Clay of Bennettsville; Daughters, Misty Clay Inglis (Kevin) of Bennettsville and Crystal Quick (BJ) of Bennettsville; Sister, Patricia Parr (Pete) of Wallace; Grandchildren, Samantha Inglis, Dinah Inglis, Kayla Quick, Triston "Boy" Quick; and greatgrandchild Araria Locklear.

He is preceded in death by his parents listed above; his brothers, Gene and Gary Clay; sisters, Lula Grace Grooms and Debbie Clay McCall.

A funeral service will be held Monday December 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Burroughs Funeral Home of Bennettsville, officiated by Rev. Carl Redding A burial will follow immediately after the funeral at Sunset Memorial Park of Bennettsville. A visitation of friends and family will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
