Peggy Hatcher Chavis, 69, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, September 5, 2025, following an illness.
Born on March 6, 1956, in Dillon County, Peggy was the daughter of the late Willie Jr. Hatcher and Mary Magdalene Blackmon Hatcher Turner. She was a devoted member of Pee Dee Chapel Baptist Church and spent her career as a Quality Control Inspector in the manufacturing industry.
Peggy will be remembered for her generous spirit, love of flowers, passion for cooking, and dedication to helping others. A proud Republican poll worker, she looked forward to starting each day with her coffee and Fox News.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lonnie Frank Chavis; sons, Bobby Michael Hatcher, Mitchell Hatcher (Kyle Desantis), and James Heath Chavis (Samantha); her brother, Timmy Hatcher and Dean Hatcher; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Willie Turner; brothers, Ronald Hatcher, Donald Hatcher, and Ricky Hatcher; and a beloved grandson, Ethan Chavis.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Pee Dee Chapel Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The service will be officiated by Rev. Russ Goins. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
