Penny Darlene Chavis McCall, age 57, passed away on June 7, 2026, at her residence following an illness.
Born on August 25, 1968, in High Point, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Claude E. Chavis and the late Lena Sports Chavis. Penny was a faithful member of Victory World Outreach Center and was formerly employed as a machine operator with Galey & Lord. She enjoyed watching movies and wrestling, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Zanny McCall; her daughter, Sarah Walters and her husband, Matthew; her brothers, Stevie Chavis and his wife, Charlene and Tommy Chavis and wife Lora ; her sisters, Sheila Kirby and her husband, Buddy and Cathy Irons; her grandchildren, Isabella, Lukas, and Landon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her children, Amber and Matthew McCall, her sisters, Annette Dixon and Peggy Smith.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Victory World Outreach Center, officiated by the Rev. JR Chavis and the Rev. Brock Jeffcoat, with burial at Bristow Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
