Retired US Army 1SG Prentiss Alexander Frazier, 88, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Prentiss was born April 21, 1937, in Bennettsville, SC, to the late John Colin Frazier and Lula Mae Gibson Frazier.

Prentiss joined the US Army and rose to the rank of 1SG. During his more than 23 years of active-duty service Prentiss did serve in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star three times and Meritorious Service Medal for his actions.

Following the military, Prentiss earned his bachelor's degree from Campbell University and went on to work in the business management departments for Cape Fear Valley and the VA Medical Center.

In his down time, Prentiss loved to watch his favorite old movies, especially Westerns. He enjoyed math, following the stock market and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid traveler and was willing to go anywhere.

Prentiss was not afraid to tackle any home improvement project from adding an addition to his house, to building furniture, to fixing any problem that came his way whether electrical, plumbing or even automotive.

Prentiss is survived by his wife, Marie Hayes-Frazier; son, Roderick Wayne Frazier and wife Anarcalis Frazier, daughter, Denise Frazier Dodson and husband Jesse J.
