Randy Carroll McCall passed away on October 8, 2024, suddenly after an illness. He was 70 years old.
Born in Blenheim to Henry Irvin McCall, Jr. and Jessie Mae Huggins McCall, Randy, or “Spot” as he was affectionately known to his friends, graduated Blenheim High School in 1972 where he played baseball, football and basketball.
An industrial electrician by trade, Randy spent many years working up and down the East Coast. He settled back home in Blenheim in the 1990s, and in 2008, hung up his hard hat and pursued a career with USDA Wildlife Services. He spent the last 16 years of his life traipsing through the woods; although he was retirement age, he had no plans to quit working anytime soon, often saying that it wasn’t really work when you loved what you were doing.
Randy was a fascinating storyteller, spinning yarns (some a little taller than others) and leaving all those in listening range filled with laughter. He not only loved everyone he met, but he also made sure to verbally tell them he loved them every chance he got.
If he wasn’t regaling you with a tale, he was bending your ear talking about his children, grandchildren, and great-children. He was beyond proud of them all and would brag on them as long as someone would listen!
In addition to his parents listed above, Randy was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mackenzie Grayce Gore, or “Hollywood” as he called her.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his children: Randy Jr. (Chasity) McCall and Chastity (Rodney) Rummage; grandchildren: Ryan Rummage, Tristan (Emily) McCall, Jessie Evans, and Sarah (Eric) Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth McCall, Jamie Leigh McCall, and Kinsley Rae Rummage; sisters: Kathy (Kevin) Brandis and Donna (Jeff) Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews; and his “honorary” granddaughters McKinley, Piper, Hannah and Polly Rose.
A funeral service will be held 11am Friday, October 11, 2024, at Bristow Freewill Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6-8pm at Burroughs Funeral Home.
