Raymond “Ray” Eugene Coddington passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee. He was 91 years old.
Born in Maryland on September 27, 1934, Ray was the son of the late Clarence and Dorothy Mae Coddington Calvert and a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He was a production control manager with Emerson Electric for 28 years and the owner of Coddington Company, Inc. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and enjoyed being involved with the activities of the church. Ray was also active in his community, serving in various capacities. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and involved with United Charities, Coats for Kids, Disabilities & Special Needs of Marlboro County, and the Bread of Life Food Pantry. He was a voice for the senior population, serving on the Silver Haired Legislature and the Marlboro County Council on Aging. Ray also supported numerous other charities anonymously and served Marlboro County as a local representative for FEMA.
Along with his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Dixon Bean.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Jean Snyder Coddington of the home; sons, James Eugene Coddington (Cathy) and Edward Gene Coddington both of Bennettsville, SC; daughter, Karen Jean Coddington Lewis (Johnny) of Bennettsville, SC; brothers, Gerald Edward Calvert (Loretta) of and William Michael Calvert (Sharon) both of Pooler, GA; and Timothy Joseph Calvert (Julie) of Dillsboro, PA; sisters, Elaine Elizabeth Calvert Twigg of Lancaster, CA; Lois Marie Calvert McGann (Joseph) of Cumberland, MD; and Debra K Calvert Logsdon of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren, James Kyle Coddington and Jacob Dylan Coddington (Summer); and great-grandchild, Helen Nicole Coddington.
A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Denis Catholic Church, 100 Tyson Avenue, Bennettsville, SC 29512.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
