Rufus “Wayne” McColl, age 70 of Clio, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, after an illness.
Wayne was born March 8, 1954, in Bennettsville, SC. He was a son of the late Hugh Gilbert McColl, Sr and Sarah Lowe McColl. Wayne worked for the City of Bennettsville as a water treatment operator, until his retirement. He loved laughing and joking with people. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching westerns and reality television shows. Wayne loved his trips to the beach. He also loved classic cars and drag racing. Most of all, Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy McColl, and a sister, Cindy Frazier.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Patti Hanke McColl of the home; daughters, Dani Goff (Mike) of Clio, Jennifer Reingardt (Darin) of Bennettsville, and Melody Nolan (Tyler) of Bennettsville; a brother, Hugh Gilbert McColl, Jr. of Clio; grandchildren; Levi Goff, Everett Reingardt, Emrie Reingardt, and Tatum Nolan; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at McLucas Cemetery in Clio, at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Wayne’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation 30 East 33rd Street New York, NY 10016.
