Sheila (Owens) Stroud

Sheila Owens Stroud, of Bennettsville, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Morrison Manor with her daughters at her bedside. She was 62 years old.

Sheila was born in Mullins, SC, on July 18,1963, to the late Bert and Bruce Owens. Sheila was a member of First Methodist Church of Bennettsville where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She loved cooking and traveling to the beach. While her health allowed, Sheila worked at Gifts and More with her best friend, Cindy Ayers. She also enjoyed talking with her neighbor and “partner in crime”, Carolyn Wallace. Most of all, Sheila loved spending time with her family and her precious dogs.

In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Stroud, Jr.

Sheila is survived by her daughters, Brittany Stroud Branch (Josh) of Bennettsville and Chelsea Stroud Farrier (Cody) of Hardeeville; a brother Dwayne Owens (Barrie) of Riverside, CA; grandchildren, Jameson Branch, Avery Kate Branch, and Copelan Farrier; mother in law, Margaret Squires of Burlington, NC; brother in law, Troy Wayne Stroud (Karie) of Carbonado, WA; sisters in law, Kimberly Stroud Balkus (Tommy) of Raleigh, NC and Sherry Stroud of Marion; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and close friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Methodist Church of Bennettsville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM.

A burial will take place in Rozier Family Cemetery in Lumberton, NC at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Scotland Regional Hospice PO Box 1033 Laurinburg, NC 28353.
