Bennettsville, SC
Sherwood Mitchell “Woody” Blue succumbed to his hard-fought battle against cancer on Friday, March 6, 2026. He passed away peacefully in his home with his family at his side. He was 58 years old.
Born October 13, 1967, in Bennettsville, Woody was the son of Mary Grace Hayes Blue and the late Edmond Blue. He was a 1985 graduate of Blenheim High School and the 2nd generation owner & operator of Blue’s Heating & Air Conditioning Company. To his close friends he was affectionately known as “The Mechanism.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching baseball and NASCAR. Woody was humble and kind and would give you the shirt off his back. He wasn’t a member of any church but was known to many for his service and generosity. He will be deeply missed.
Along with his father mentioned above, Woody was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Edmond Blue and infant brother, Gary Herman Blue; and sister, Brenda Blue Goodwin. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Amy Moody Blue of Bennettsville; mother, Mary Grace Hayes Blue of Bennettsville; sons, Anderson Blue ( Amanda) and Hunter Blue of Bennettsville; daughters, Nora Lynn Meggs (Hubie) and Lydia Thomas of Bennettsville; sister, Rebecca Dianne Brigman of Bennettsville; brothers-in-law, Mitchell Brigman of Conway and Andy Goodwin of Anderson; sister-in-law, Jeanie Blue of Whiteville, NC; grandchildren, Paisley Blue, Willa & Walker Meggs, Case and Sadie Grace Brigman; and many other beloved family members and friends.
