Stephen Michael Sligh, age 65 of Bennettsville, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his residence.

Stephen was born January 13, 1959, in Bennettsville, SC. He was a son of the late Harry Gannt and Katie Mae Pope Sligh. Stephen enjoyed trips to the beach and cooking out with family and friends. He always wanted to be sure that everyone was fed. He loved his pets. He always treated them as human family members. Stephen earned a certificate in management from Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College. He spent his career working in management. Stephen was a family man, who loved spending time with each one of them.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Peggy Sue Brown Sligh. Stephen is survived by his son, Shane Michael Sligh (Ashley) of Bennettsville; a daughter, Susan Elizabeth Sligh (Robert) of Salem, OR; a sister, Judy Sligh Rogers (David) of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Sam Hough, Gracie Sligh, Aerie Sligh; nieces, Erica Hall (Eddie) of Clio and Katie Cunningham (Chris) of Vass, NC. one great niece and two great nephews; several other extended family members also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Stephen’s memory to The Shriner’s Hospital of Greenville Attn: Shriner’s Children PO Box 947765 Atlanta, GA 30394.
